Okay, I’m logged in to Mineler - where do I start?
+-

The best place to start is by uploading a good profile photo (you want to look your best, right?). To do this, click on your name in the top right corner and then Profile. Here you can upload your photo, then enter your contact details, write a short bio about yourself and set your privacy settings.

After your profile is all set up, start exploring the map by clicking on pins. Each pin represents a mine site which you can zoom in on and click I Worked Here to share your work experience.

Why do you want my home country?
+-

Selecting this allows Mineler to default the map view to your home country. It will also snap back there when you click the Home button in the bottom right corner.

Should I use my real name?
+-

Absolutely. The only way your colleagues and potential business partners will find you is by using your real name, a good profile photo, entering your contact details and filling out your about bio.

How do I connect with my friends?
+-

Good question!

The easiest way to start connecting is by clicking the People tab at the bottom of the screen. The People column will pop up on the left side and give you some suggested connections. Just click their names and then the orange Connect button to send them a connection request.

Click Invites at the top of the people column to see your invitations to and from other people. Click People to see your list of connections.

Another way to find specific people on Mineler is to search for their names using the Search bar in the top left corner.

This is one of the best things about Mineler – connecting with other people so you can share ideas and discuss mine sites around the globe.

Can I invite other people?
+-

It’s a cinch.

Click on the People tab at the bottom of the screen and then the big orange Invite People to Join Mineler at the top of the People column. From there you can insert your friend’s name, email and a personal message. Click Send and your friend will receive a friendly little email inviting them to join you on Mineler.

Please – invite everyone you know!

What does the little star next to peoples’ names do?
+-

If you click on the grey star next to a person’s name, it will add them to your favorites bar at the top centre of the screen. You can use this to filter your contacts’ experiences on the map and explore mine sites your colleagues have worked at

What does Mineler actually do?
+-

Mineler is first and foremost designed to be a social marketplace where mining people enjoy connecting with others, sharing ideas and exploring mine sites around the globe. Mineler gives you the ability to do a handful of things easily, which combined create a powerful social marketplace:

  1. Find mine sites on the map and indicate your work history there
  2. Connect with other mining people, see their work history and interact with them
  3. Post updates or photos to mine sites and to your contacts
  4. Fill out your profile with an ‘about’ blurb, photo and contact details
  5. Add your own mine site ‘pin’ and enter details to share with other Mineler people
  6. Bid for work and projects with mining companies

By giving skilled mining people the opportunity to connect directly with mining companies, we hope to facilitate a more flexible workforce, and a shift in culture throughout the mining industry.

How do I find XYZ mine site?
+-

We’re not sure if there is such a place as XYZ mine site, but if there was you would just type it into the Search bar in the top left corner.

If that’s no help, you can filter your search by Country, Commodity or Project Type.

If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, there’s a good chance it’s not on Mineler yet. To add your own site, you can Drop a Pin on the location, using the pin icon in the bottom right corner and enter your experience there.

Can I hide my personal details?
+-

Yes – just click on your name in the top right corner and then click Profile. At the bottom of the profile column you will see ‘Privacy Settings’. Click on Privacy Settings and change your preferences for who can find your profile, see your contact details (phone/email) and address.

Is my personal information safe?
+-

Absolutely – privacy is incredibly important to Mineler and is at the centre of what we do – our credibility depends on it. Your information is encrypted and securely stored and is not shared with any third-parties. We take this seriously – you can see our full privacy policy at www.mineler.com/info/privacy.html

Why wouldn’t I just use Facebook or LinkedIn to connect with my mining friends?
+-

Mineler is very different to Facebook or LinkedIn – there are no silly cat photos or cheesy memes here. All content is relevant to the mining industry and is based around location (mine sites), personal connections and real work experience. Mineler is anything but a traditional social network or job site. The mining industry uniquely operates around remote work sites, which is why Mineler’s user interface focuses on the geolocation of active mine sites around the globe. Mineler users are encouraged to share their experiences at each site they have worked at and interact with others who have worked there – no other social network is built this way.
